Making catapults in the after school STEM class. Teams have to work collaboratively, to be problem-solvers, be creative, and to think critically. Our students get to design, fail, and try again to learn to be risk-takers to support our innovative and engaging learning. #THEChoice #Launchintolearning (literally đ)

Fifth graders at Tyson Elementary School learned about the ecosystem at Lake Fayetteville. They went on a hike where they saw various producers and consumers. The beautiful Blue Heron was out for all to see as well as two large copperhead snakes! Watch your step! They looked for evidence of humans as well. The students got to use dip nets to collect organisms from the creek. Once back at the science center, students took turns using a plankton skimming net to collect microscopic organisms from the lake water. They then Identified various phytoplankton as well as zooplankton. đ€
